It's Apple Time

Here in the Great White North a highlight of the year is Apple Picking Time. Until we moved here, I had never seen apples growing on trees. I never knew that there were more varieties than Red Delicious, Granny Smith, and Romes! Well, there are.

Look at these beauties:

Each year our favorite local orchard has a Fall Festival. All of the orchards have them, but we go here for ONE reason...freshly cooked apple cider donuts. Here's the clincher--they glaze them with maple cream. Yes, indeedy. They are divine.

Along with picking the apples and standing in line for two dozen of these bites of heaven, there is a petting zoo. It has quite a variety ranging from monkeys to turtles. Our favorites, however, were the goats...

...and the baby kangaroo.

We were going to get some apples, but the wagon was full.
