Our Maiden Voyage

We took our little camper out for a test run this weekend. We went to a state park about 20 minutes away. Many were the glitches as we figured out how to do all the things that you do with a camper. It's a good thing the drive there was so short!

J, however, has decided that camping is THE way to spend our time. He's ready to go again and we just got back. I must admit that L and I feel the same way. It was GREAT! Perfect weather and lovely surroundings.

J experienced his own set of issues, too. While parked in our driveway at home he fell out of the bathroom. Twice. He has shiny black shin bruises as souvenirs. (It's a long explanation as to how he fell out--the camper wasn't leveled yet on our uneven driveway and the bathroom is also a shower so you have to step up and over the bottom to get out...well, you get the picture.)

Then, when we were setting up the camper at the campground, L was outside working on the campfire and J was in the pop-out bed setting up his stuffed animals. I was working at the sink and saw, out of the corner of my eye, J just disappear! Apparently the pop-out tent is not tied down across the entire edge, but secured in only 3 places. He managed to slip through the edge and land on his feet on the ground outside! We're still ribbing him about that one.

We were in campsite #24 (J took this picture).
This is J's first taste of REAL S'mores.
He approved.

Enjoying the morning sun while working in a new workbook.

J wanted a picture of Teddy's "lovely smile" (his words).
This is also his photographic work.

In a couple of weeks we're going on a longer trip. We are VERY excited. J says he'll try to avoid falling out of the camper next time.
