We are using the book, Discovering Great Artists by MaryAnn Kohl, as our art curriculum this year. The layout of the book provides a short background for each artist and activities to mimic that artist's particular style or medium.
This week our artist is Leonardo da Vinci. One of his many great talents was that of inventor. He sketched over 200 ideas into his books. One of his sketches even showed a "flying machine" 500 years before airplanes were invented.
J's assignment today was to come up with an invention that would make life easier or better. He decided that the way we distribute food could be made easier and faster. Hence, he invented the following. The description is in his own words:
The Super Fast Mega Food Carrier
(This machine is taller than a 13-story building.)
This invention will deliver food to grocery stores in a fast way. The food is pumped into the machine with a pumper (bottom right). Each type of food has its own tub.
The pumper pumps the food into the machine and it comes out the back and loads into flying buckets with wings that carry the food to all the stores in the whole world.
Ladies and Gentlemen, you saw it here first. If you'd like to send a donation to help our inventor get a patent for this amazing machine, please let me know.
Just before we go public on the Stock Exchange, we will give you an opportunity to invest in the production as well. We'll be in touch.
